CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accused Cong. Arnel Teves of Negros Oriental as the mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
“Illegal drugs played in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, “ Duterte said during a visit in Cagayan de Oro City on Thursday.
Degamo was shot dead in his compound on March 4, 2023.
Duterte, accompanied by Sen. Bong Go, was in Cagayan de Oro City to accept the Distinguished Merit Award from the city’s League of Barangays.
He said that based on the accounts of the suspects who pointed to Teves as the mastermind in the Degamo killing, the police should file charges against Teves.
“Once the case is filed, the Department of Justice should file a case for the cancellation of Teves passport,” Duterte said.
He said that once the passport is cancelled, Teves would become a subject if arrest by the international police.
“Teves is lucky. I am no longer in power. Otherwise, another extra judicial killing would be an issue, “ Duterte said albeit jokingly.
