DSWD XI invites the public to join its week-long 73rd anniversary celebration

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI inaugurated its 73rd-anniversary celebration with the theme “Angels in Red Vest: Empathy in Action, Integrity in Service, Unity in Communities” through a guest appearance at the Kapehan sa Dabaw, facilitated by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region XI on April 15, 2024, held at SM Davao City.

DSWD XI Regional Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong outlined the activities of the week-long celebration and extended an invitation to the public to participate in the various events, emphasizing the programs and services available to them.

The guest appearance at the Kapehan sa Dabaw marked the commencement of the celebration on April 15, 2024. Following that, a Thanksgiving Mass will be held at the DSWD XI open grounds on April 16, 2024, coinciding with the opening of Tabo sa Onse: A Product Display. On April 17, 2024, a festive parade, a Zumba activity, the unveiling of the Angels in Red Vests (ARV) photo wall, fun games, a food fair, and the Sportsfest Awarding Ceremony are all scheduled.

An advocacy fair, specifically tailored for social work students to gain firsthand experience of DSWD’s work systems and mechanisms, is scheduled for April 18, 2024.

At the heart of the celebration lies a commitment to environmental preservation, exemplified by a tree-planting activity at Sitio Malamboon, Brgy. 76-A Bucana, Davao City on April 19, 2024.

The culmination of the week’s events will be the Praise and Panata Awards, during which outstanding DSWD workers will be honored for their exceptional contributions to the implementation of DSWD programs and services. These awards not only acknowledge their hard work but also serve as a testament to the profound impact they have had on society.

Atty. Goc-ong also extended an invitation to the media to cover the events and assist in disseminating information about the Department’s programs and services.

“In the spirit of unity and gratitude, let us join hands in celebrating this joyous occasion recognizing the invaluable contributions of DSWD workers towards building a brighter future for our communities,” said Atty. Goc-ong. (DSWD XI/Ezri M. Coda Jr.)
