Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has expressed strong objections to the process by which his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, was served an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The warrant was facilitated through Interpol and the Philippine National Police (PNP) under the command of Major General Nicolas Torre.
In a statement released on Friday, Mayor Duterte raised concerns over what he described as a “lack of transparency and apparent disregard” for due process and the rule of law. He reaffirmed ongoing efforts to bring his 79-year-old father back to the Philippines.
However, the Department of Justice countered Mayor Duterte’s claims, stating that the Philippine government followed due process in facilitating the ICC arrest warrant
