Claveria, Misamis Oriental — Congressman Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” B. Emano was awarded an honorary Doctor in Technology Education (Honoris Causa) degree during the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Claveria’s 38th Commencement Exercises, held at the University Multi-Purpose Hall on August 9, 2024. The degree honors Emano for his significant and impactful contributions to technology, education, and community development in Misamis Oriental.
The ceremony brought together the University System key officials headed by the USTP System President Dr.Ambrosio B. Cultura, members of the academic and administrative committee of USTP Claveria, faculty and staff, 2024 graduates, other guests present- the honorable mayor of Claveria Hon.Meraluna Salvaleon- Abrogar, the immediate family of the guest speaker, parents of the graduates, and community members.
Mr. Dave Cerbito, University Board Secretary, read the USTP BOR and CHED en Bank Resolution No.90 S. 2024 dated July 2, 2024, approving the conferment of the Honorary Degree signed by Hon. Aldrin A. Darilag, PhD and all other members of the BOR, the rationale of conferment and the citation.
Emano’s award recognizes his extensive work and exceptional and meritorious accomplishment in regional development in field of agricultural technology, including his role in the creation of the Misamis Oriental Agriculture Complex which is a 500 million-peso facility dedicated to agricultural research and innovation and has become a vital resource for local farmers and researchers.
Emano has also been a key figure in the expansion of Laguindingan Airport, a 6 billion-peso project that has transformed the airport into an international hub. This expansion has significantly boosted regional economic growth and enhanced global market access for agricultural products.
In the field of education, Emano’s support for USTP has been substantial. He was instrumental in securing 462 faculty positions, which have bolstered the university’s academic and research capabilities. He also advocated for the upgrading of USTP’s satellite campuses into full-fledged institutions, increasing educational opportunities across the region, and numerous other tangible awards and recognitions in agriculture cited relative to his exemplary leadership in advancing community development.
USTP President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II conferred the honorary degree to the honorand Dr.Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano. He was assisted by VPAA Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og, USTP CDO Chancellor Atty. Dionel Albina, USTP Claveria Dr. Renato O. Arazo members of the Board of Regents, the immediate family of the honorand in the imposition of hood, placing of cap.

The President commended Emano’s impact, “Congressman Emano’s commitment to technology, education, and community welfare exemplifies the values we uphold at USTP,” Dr. Cultura said.
Hon. Grace Vergie P. Nillama, President, USTP Claveria Faculty Association, Incorporated, inducted the honorand in a Pledge of Loyalty to the Alma Mater. Meanwhile, Hon. Gerum O. Salatan, President of the Federation of USTP Alumni Association, inducted the honorand to the USTP Alumni Association. Ms Ellaine C Edio, Presidebt of the Alumni Association of USTP Claveria awarded the Alumni Pin to the new alumnus of the university.
In his speech, Emano expressed his gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed his dedication to community development. “This recognition reflects the collective efforts of many who have supported these initiatives. I remain committed to advancing progress and development for our community,” Emano said.
The award ceremony at the University Multi-Purpose Hall highlighted Emano’s influential role in regional development and served as an inspiration for the graduating students and the broader community.
