PARANG, Maguindanao del Norte – Authorities intercepted a truck loaded with alleged smuggled cigarettes during an intelligence-driven anti-criminality checkpoint on January 20, 2026, in Brgy. Pinantao, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

The operation was conducted by joint personnel of the 1401st RMFC, RMFB 14-A, and Parang MPS, in coordination with the RID PRO BAR and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Sub-Port of Parang.

Upon inspection of a white Isuzu wing van truck, police discovered thousands of reams of alleged smuggled cigarettes of GAJAH BARU brand, concealed inside the vehicle’s wall and floor compartments. The driver failed to present valid documents proving the legality of the cargo, prompting the arrest of the vehicle’s occupants. Initial inventory showed 4,582 reams of alleged smuggled cigarettes with an estimated market value of Php 3,596,870.00.

The arrested individuals, confiscated cigarettes, and the vehicle are currently under the custody of Parang MPS, pending turnover to the Bureau of Customs and the filing of appropriate cases.

PBGEN JAYSEN C DE GUZMAN, Regional Director of PRO BAR, emphasized the value of inter-agency cooperation in combating smuggling activities. “Hindi lang ito laban kontra smuggling, kundi laban din ito sa mga ilegal na aktibidad na sumisira sa ekonomiya at naglalagay sa panganib sa kapayapaan at seguridad ng ating mga komunidad. Patuloy po ang aming mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng batas, katuwang ang iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan,” he said.
