CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Misamis Oriental Board Member Gerardo “Boboy” Sabal III hit the reported inability of the Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Company (CEPALCO) to properly explain the sudden increase which almost double the regular electricity consumption of its consumers.
Sabal said this is unfair and Cepalco must explain in proper forum so that the thousands of consumers will be enlightened and clarified of these recent increases they reportedly imposed to power consumers.
“Kinahanglan ma explain nila kini dili kay kalit nalang kita mangakurat nga taas kaayo ang bill. Sobra na sa napulo ang atong napangutana ug gi-confirm nila ang kalit nga pag increase. Gani, dismayado sila kay nganong wala kini gipahibalo sa taga Cepalco,” Board member Sabal said in vernacular.
He said consumers in Tagoloan and Jasaan were also affected by this sudden increase and not only Cagayan de Oro.
SHOULD BE ERC APPROVED
Board Member Sabal said if this duly approved by the Energy and Regulatory Commission (ERC) then we are obligated to follow. But the question is “Did they disseminate this information to their power consumers? he asked.
Sabal explained that any increase in power bill must be approved by the ERC and Cepalco should convince the ERC that the imposition was within the bounds of the law.
“Dili sila basta nalang maningil sa consumers ug dako nga amount kung wala kini approval sa ERC,” Misamis Oriental Board Member Sabal explained
