The phrase “water finds its level” suggests that nature will always seek equilibrium. However, under Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration , this notion takes a darker turn. His declaration of completing 5,500 flood control projects worth P255 billion, what really happened? Why is the suffering so significant that it left kababayans fending for themselves to stay alive . As communities remain submerged during even minor rainfall, the public is left grappling with the implications of ghost infrastructures funded by taxpayer money.A negligence and corruption to the highest volume.

The absence of these alleged flood control projects is alarming. Local government units (LGUs) are unable to identify any such infrastructure in their jurisdictions. Barangay captains and city engineers stand bewildered at a claim that seems to float on air—phantom constructions that offer no substantial protection against rising waters. This lack of accountability is a severe disconnect between government claims and community realities.

Marcos’s subsequent excuses further erode public trust, particularly his attempt to blame external factors for flooding incidents. The rhetorical question arises: how does a billion-peso project collapse under the weight of a single vessel? Such statements reveal not just operational incompetence but also an alarming disregard for transparency and ethical governance.

This administration’s approach has weaponized ambiguity, leaving citizens frustrated and disillusioned as they demand proof amidst rising waters. The call for an additional P500 billion for ten new projects invites skepticism when weighed against previous failures—a clear indication that misguided priorities continue to plague governance in the country. Why request for an additional budget when the pervious budget is still left unliquidated?

The Filipino people are acutely aware of their reality; they see the floods and feel justified anger toward empty promises. As they confront this ongoing crisis, one question looms large: where did the billions go, Mr. President? This isn’t merely about infrastructure; it’s about restoring faith in leadership and demanding accountability from those who govern.Trust is no longer existent, you have failed.
