BY CRIS DIAZ CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – A total of 256 villages from the provinces of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Bukidnon have successfully retained their drug-cleared and drug-free status, the regional police command here said Friday.

Major Joan Navarro, the spokesperson of the regional police command, said that the Regional Oversight Committee on BarangayDrug Clearing (ROCBDC) approved the applications of the barangays as drug free villages in the region on Aug. 27, 2025.

Navarro said that the ROCBDC is a committee of regional office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)that oversee the adfairs of the barangays in the region.

Drug-free barangays are those with no identified drug personalities and have undergone verification process to maintain that classification, while drug-cleared barangays are those with identified drug personalities after complying with the standards set under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.

In a statement, Police Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon, police regional director, said that the accomplishments of these barangays are proof of the government’s continuing success in curbing illegal drugs at the grassroots level.

“The retention of these villages as drug-free means that our law enforcement efforts are working along with our partner agencies in the local government and in the barangays themselves,” Suguilon said.
