CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – A nurse and a former employee of the Bureau of Corrections (BUCOR) were arrested in connection with the gunslaying of the 24-year-old Mr. Cagayan de Oro contestant in 2023.
The regional police command said on Wednesday that the suspects were arrested in their residences in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on July 3, 2025.
The nurse is 35 years old, while the former BuCor employee is 37 years old. Both were arrested under a warrant for murder docketed as Criminal Case No. R-CDO-23-03341-CR dated July 3, 2025, with no bail bond recommended.
The suspects whose identitiies were mot sisclosed,did not resist arrest and are now in the custody of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).
The police are also validating reports that the suspects are gun-for-hire.
The case stemmed from the shooting to death of Adrianne Rovic Fornillos, 24, a contestant for Mr. Cagayan de Oro City in 2023.
Fornillos was reportedly on his way to a practice session in Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro, on May 9, 2023, when he was shot in the back of the head at close range.
Fornillos died in the hospital the following day due to severe brain injury.
In October 2023, a locally influential religious leader, Pastor Dimver Andales, was arrested as one of the suspects in the killing.
The Department of Justice (DOJ), however, dismissed the charges in October 2024 for insufficient evidence
