Manila, Philippines – May 22, 2025 — In a sweeping show of support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to recalibrate his administration, fifteen Cabinet-level officials have expressed their willingness to submit their courtesy resignations.
The move follows the President’s call for all Cabinet secretaries to tender their resignations in a bid to evaluate government performance and realign priorities following the midterm elections.
Those who have confirmed their readiness to step down include:
Vince Dizon – Secretary, Department of Transportation
Rex Gatchalian – Secretary, Department of Social Welfare and Development
Jonvic Remulla – Secretary, Department of the Interior and Local Government
Romando Artes – Chairman, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
Christina Frasco – Secretary, Department of Tourism
Amenah Pangandaman – Secretary, Department of Budget and Management
Ralph Recto – Secretary, Department of Finance
Menardo Guevarra – Solicitor General (pending formal directive)
Hans Leo Cacdac – Secretary, Department of Migrant Workers
Henry Aguda – Secretary, Department of Information and Communications Technology
Jesus Crispin Remulla – Secretary, Department of Justice
Jay Ruiz – Secretary, Presidential Communications Office
Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. – Secretary, Department of Agriculture
Bienvenido Laguesma – Secretary, Department of Labor and Employment
Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez – Director General, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
While most officials have either submitted their resignations or confirmed their intent to do so, some—like Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra—are awaiting formal communication before taking official action.
Malacañang clarified that the resignations are not punitive, but rather intended to give the President the flexibility to retain or reassign officials based on performance and alignment with his administration’s goals for a “Bagong Pilipinas.”
This development marks a significant moment in Marcos Jr.’s governance, reflecting a drive to reinforce accountability, leadership discipline, and a results-focused public service.
