COUNCILOR Roger Abaday, chairman of the Committee on Public Order and Safety, clarified that he is not opposed to the modernization program of the government and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
However, he wants proper coordination and consultation with the cityโs local government so that the program can be implemented smoothly and in an orderly manner.
Abaday made the statement in reaction to the issue surrounding the entry of electric vehicles or โGreen Taxisโ into the city, which has been opposed by traditional taxi drivers because they say the new taxis are affecting their daily earnings.
Abaday added that although the LTFRB has the authority to implement the program, the city also has its own ordinances that must be observed. Therefore, close coordination between the respective offices is necessary.
Councilor Roger Abaday expressed hope that the issue can be given an appropriate solution through the office of Mayor Rolando โKlarexโ Uy, together with LTFRB officials, taxi operators, and the management of the Green Taxi service. THE GAVEL
