๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐๐ง๐ข ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ — For the first time in history, the Local Government of Pualas in Lanao del Sur showcased the beauty of the town and its people with the festive โPagana for Peace and Developmentโ on Tuesday, February 28.
๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ผ๐น said the celebratory activity which featured newly constructed floating cottages and โdolangโ, is in recognition and importance to the wealth of Pualas people, Lake Dapao.
โThe priority of the new Pualas administration is to further enrich and value the preservation of Lake Dapao,โ Mayor Ducol said.
The mayor added Makabagong Pualas aims to continue significant programs that will pave the way for a more peaceful and prosperous town.
โWe can only achieve the said goal with the help of everyone in our community,โ he emphasized.
Furthermore, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) chairperson ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐๐ฎ was invited as special guest where she personally experienced the beauty of Pualas and the hospitality of its people.
The people of Pualas warmly welcomed MinDA and its partner funding-agency, the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
During the visit, three projects scored a nod from MinDA and DPB: 1) the water system project that would benefit the 14 barangays; 2) installation of ATM machines; and 3) the Lake Dapao Ecotourism Masterplan.
โI am expressing my full support to the local government, headed by Mayor Amanoden “Tenny” Ducol, Vice-Mayor Dialaloden Maruhom, and its Makabagong Pualas brand of leadership,โ Secretary Acosta said.

Meanwhile, Lake Dapao is a deep-water lake located in the province of Lanao del Sur, southwest of Lake Lanao. It is one of the deepest lakes in the country, reaching a maximum depth of 120 meters (390 ft) and has an estimated surface area of 1,011 hectares (10.11 km2).
The lake receives water from local run-off and several small rivers. In 1965, the lake and its vicinity was declared as a protected national park under Republic Act 4190 that covers an area of about 1,500 square kilometers (580 sq mi).
The many species of birds that are known to make the national park their home include the imperial pigeon, giant scope owl, parrots, hornbills, wild ducks and woodpeckers. The park is also home to mammals, such as wild pigs, the Philippine deer and the Philippine monkey, and fish species, including the common carp, dalag, catfish, goby, shrimps and the Mozambique tilapia.
