VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental Mayor Julio Uy delivered the state of the municipality address for 2026 during the town’s 64th Charter Day celebration.
Major infrastructure projects cited by Uy include the installation of additional 29 cameras for incident command center monitoring and the first phase of the early warning siren system.
There were 32 anti-illegal drug operations conducted resulting to six barangays newly declared as drug-cleared, three anti-illegal fishing operations accomplished and one anti-illegal logging operation recorded.
Along this line, a QR code police assistance system was launched just last month to ensure the safety and privacy of the reporter.
There were 1,051 businesses either newly registered or renewed this year totaling an income for the municipality at P65 million from only 53 million in 2025.
Last year, the following faciliti4es were granted licenses to operate: Villanueva DOTS Center, Villanueva Animal Bite Center, Villanueva Lying In and Villanueva RHU Konsulta Provider resulting to 906 successful baby delieveries during the period.
Meanwhile, 1044 children were immunized in 2025, 119 availed of micronutrient powder and 105 received multivitamins.
There were 675 persons who were given post-exposure anti-rabies vaccine the same year.
It was learned too that 96.5 percent of households in Villanueva were tested for safe drinking water.
In education, the local government provided pillows and sleeping mats for delegates of the annual Regional Schools Press Conference, turned over of gymnastics mats for Vilanueva National High School and more supplies and equipment to other schools.
Rice assistance was likewise given to persons with disabilities and for the Walang Gutom program, 87 families recognized by DSWD were the beneficiaries.
Wheelchairs were likewise given to senior citiens and a centenarian received P50,000 cash for turning 100.
Fourteen families who were fire victims were likewise given financial assistance.
One hundred sixty five surviving relatives were likewise given burial assistance for their departed loved ones.
Meanwhile, the following infrastructure projects were completed in 2025: a footbridge in Dayawan, a multi-purpose building in Poblacion 1, a septic vault in Kirahon, a stall-type cubicle in Katipunan market and a water system in Kimaya.
“Let us unite as one community in witnessing the accomplishments of our local government and the plans ahead for a stronger, more progressive, and more prosperous Villanueva, Misamis Oriental,” Uy said.
