Veteran radio commentator shot dead in Cag de Oro City

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A hard-hitting veteran radio commentator was shot dead by two unidentified riding in tandem suspects in front of his house in Macanhan, Carmen here early morning Wednesday.

Federico “Ding” Gempesaw, 63, has just stepped down from his passenger taxi when shot at close range by the assailant.

A witness identified as Marco Manondo told investigators that the victim grappled with the gunman, but was shot again on the head.

Responding police recovered an empty shell of an unknown caliber in the crime scene.

Police are still trying to establish the motive of the killing.

Gempesaw was a veteran radio commentator who was handling a daily program with “Radyo Natin,” a local radio station here, at time when he was shot.

Gempesaw had just stepped down from his car, which he used as passenger taxi when waylaid by the suspects.

Gempesaw was a retired city official before he joined the local media as a full time radio commentator. -0-
