SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — Two active personnel of the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO13) are facing a criminal complaint for adultery following an alleged misconduct incident inside a rented room in Barangay Bayanihan, Butuan City, on July 1.

The male and female police officers, who are both married to their respective spouses, were allegedly caught in a suspicious situation by the husband of the female officer, leading to the filing of a complaint.

The criminal complaint for Adultery, docketed under NPS-XIII-01-INQ-26G-00278, has been formally referred to the City Prosecutor’s Office of Butuan City through an inquest proceeding. The complaint was subscribed on July 2, 2026, at around 10:25 a.m.

PRO13 said the administrative aspect of the case is also being pursued, with both personnel currently undergoing Pre-Charge Evaluation to determine possible administrative offenses and the corresponding disciplinary proceedings under existing PNP rules and regulations.

Police Regional Office 13 Director PBGEN Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV assured the public that the case would be handled with fairness and impartiality, stressing that personnel found liable would face the appropriate legal and administrative consequences.

“We reiterate our commitment to preserving public trust and upholding the core values and ethical standards expected of every member of the Philippine National Police,” Magistrado said.

PRO13 emphasized that due process will be strictly observed while ensuring accountability and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and discipline among its personnel.
