City Councilor Gigi Go of Cagayan de Oro City emphasized that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is no longer just an alternative pathway, but a primary highway to inclusive national growth, sustainable and secure employment, and definitive poverty reduction. As Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperative, Labor and Employment, Go expressed her full support for TVET programs, considering them a cornerstone of the country’s strategy for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Go highlighted that TVET programs are instrumental in addressing critical skills gaps in industries by equipping the workforce, especially the youth and marginalized sectors, with certified, high-quality, and industry-relevant competencies. This enhances their employability and opens doors to stable wage employment, empowering them to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and sustainable livelihoods.


The TVET Career Development Forum, organized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in partnership with PESO Cagayan de Oro, aims to provide the workforce with the necessary skills and training to meet the demands of the industry. Go emphasized that TVET programs are vital in empowering the workforce, enabling them to contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
