NATIONAL awardee barangay chairman Edwin Micabani of Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City has envisioned a sports park to rise along the bank of Cagayan river in his barangay.
This was the gist of Micabani’s speech March 15 during the opening of the Balulang riverside park and market.

The night cafe is the barangay’s answer to the numerous food parks that have sprouted in the city especially along the banks of Cagayan river.
Micabani initiated the night cafe, saying it will be a boost for both MSMEs in his barangay as well as tourism in the place.
Located along the dike in sitio Ilaya, the market merchants selling apparel and charms will open as early as 4:00 p.m. daily while food and beverages will be served later. This will be highlighted each night with musical performances on stage, also featuring local talents from Balulang itself.
But there’s more.
This early, Micabani has already envisioned the spot not just as a vendors’ area but also as a sports park.
He said the wide outdoor facility will feature a pickleball court, a basketball court, a tennis court, a skating rink, dart, chess, Larong Pinoy and a children’s playground.
Under Micabani’s administration, Balulang is a recipient of the prestigious Galing Pook in 2025 and first runner-up in the 2024 Lupon national awards.
These accolades have inspired Micabani to continue innovating more programs for his barangay.
