The spirit of bayanihan is making waves across our shores as volunteers from your most-loved SM City Butuan joined the International Coastal Cleanup 2026 at Barangay Sacol, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
In partnership with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Buenavista and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Nasipit, the activity brought together more than 1,000 volunteers from government agencies, local organizations, businesses, and community groups, the activity covered approximately 1.8 kilometers of coastline. Through the collective efforts, a total of 3,109.16 kilograms of waste was collected, helping protect the community’s shores and waterways.
The initiative forms part of the SM Green Movement, which continues to champion sustainability and empower communities to take part in caring for the environment—one piece of litter at a time.
From government agencies and community organizations to SM City Butuan affiliates, tenants, and volunteers, the cleanup showed how collective action can create a meaningful impact. Together, communities continue to prove that every action counts toward an #SMWasteFreeFuture.
