Silka Celebrates Self-Care Month with Alagang Silka: Alaganda Para sa Pamilya

September 28, 2024 – GUIGUINTO, Bulacan, Philippines — For Silka, alaga is not just a word—it’s a promise. A promise to care for the well-being of Filipinos, to nurture their dreams, and to stand with them through every step of their journey. From empowering lives through the ALAGA Scholarship program to providing everyday care with quality products, Silka has long been dedicated to the Filipino people. Now, with ALAGANG SILKA: Alaganda Para sa Pamilya, that commitment continues, celebrating the deep connection between self-care, family, and the power of togetherness.

In honor of Self-Care Awareness Month, Silka gathered 250 families from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a program run by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), from eight barangays in Guiguinto, Bulacan. Partnering with the Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Pamilya ng Pantawid (SNPP) and the local government of Brgy. Sta. Cruz, the event wasn’t just a celebration; it was a heartfelt expression of Silka’s belief in the power of self-care to strengthen families and uplift communities.

During the event, Silka distributed Alagang Silka Kits, filled with self-care essentials and grocery bags containing basic necessities—small reminders that their well-being matters. More than just gifts, these kits symbolized Silka’s ongoing dedication to supporting Filipino families not only through skincare but in their everyday lives.

In addition, employment booths were set up to accept job applications, offering job opportunities to members of the 4Ps community—because at Silka, we believe that when families are empowered, communities can flourish.

A highlight of the event was the Kamustahan segment, a time for families to share meals, play games, and simply enjoy each other’s company. It was a chance for these families to feel truly seen, valued, and cared for. Since 2001, Silka has offered more than just affordable, quality skincare products—it has offered alaga in its purest form. And with this event, Silka extended that care even further, nurturing not only the physical but the emotional well-being of every family present.

Another highlight of the event were stories—genuine, honest stories of struggles, resilience, success, and dreams. Our inspirational speakers showed us pieces of their journey as a business owner through sharing the challenges they faced, the lessons they gained along the way, and what worked for them. They shared pictures of them teaching their daughter to run the business, as well as pictures of them with their business partners showing big smiles of joint success which touched hearts and sparked dreams among the audience. All this sharing left an impact and nudged them with the belief that they, too, could create something meaningful, worthwhile, and successful for themselves and their families.

To give more insights, Silka has invited a guest speaker to share knowledge in sustainability–how upcycled material goes a long way by giving a demonstration of turning Silka Deodorant sachet packaging into weaved bags, key holders, fans, and headbands. This goes to show that taking care of the environment starts within us, in the way we practice self-care among ourselves and our families.

Adding warmth to the celebration was a special serenade by actress and singer Sue Ramirez. Her beautiful performance filled the air with joy, and her message on self-care touched the hearts of the attendees. Kapag inaalagaan natin ang sarili natin, mas nagiging handa tayong alagaan ang mga taong mahalaga sa atin,” she shared, reminding everyone that true care starts with oneself and flows to those we love.

Ms. Mary Jane Co of Cosmetique Asia Corporation added her thoughts, saying, “Alaga is more than just products and services—it’s about showing our communities that we’re here for them, truly committed to their well-being and success. When families thrive, communities thrive.”

ALAGANG SILKA: Alaganda Para sa Pamilya was more than just a one-day celebration. It was a living testament to Silka’s unwavering dedication to Filipino families—a celebration of love, self-care, and the hope for a brighter future. As Silka continues to support families in their journey toward growth and success, we are reminded that when we care for ourselves, we build the foundation for those we care about most to thrive alongside us.
