Public service is all about serving the people and upholding the law, without mental reservation,
nor evasion.

It is a field that focuses on serving the people, and this would be one of the greatest challenges
to the newly-elected officials, be it in local governance or at the national level.

Public service demands resilience to cope with stress and setbacks. It is about serving the community and upholding the law.

One must prioritize ethical conduct, effective communication, and a commitment to serving the public good.

Public service encompasses a wide range of public issues. It is all about supporting communities, serving others, and protecting the rights and interests of the public.

An elected official must strive for professionalism, efficiency, and accountability.

One must build trust and maintaining political neutrality, a crucial aspect of public life.

Public servants must uphold the highest ethical standards, acting with honesty, responsibility, and professionalism.

One must have the competence, expertise, and a commitment to serving the public interest.

Public servants must lead modest lives and prioritize public interest over personal gain.

That said, civil service is basically based on principles of integrity, impartiality, effectiveness, equity and accountability.

Here are some of my unsolicitated guideposts to all those who believe that public service is a calling:

-Understand specific duties and responsibilities within the public service framework.

-Communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully with colleagues, and the public.

-Develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges effectively.

-Prioritize tasks, manage your workload efficiently, and meet deadlines.

-Foster positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.

-Stay updated on relevant policies, procedures, and best practices.

-Be willing to take on new responsibilities and adapt to changing circumstances.

-Actively solicit feedback on your performance.

-Speak the truth, and nothing but the truth based on the principles of integrity, impartiality, effectiveness, equity and accountability.
