Salcedo claims Cogon Market is now in full capacity for ambulant vendors

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A top official of the City has claimed yesterday that Cogon Market is already in full capacity as far as ambulant vendors.

Eric D. Salcedo, former City Councilor and now Mayor Klarex Uy’s co-chair for Night market management committee, told the media in an exclusive interview that Cogon Market can no longer accommodate more ambulant vendors, adding that the area is now in full capacity.

He said there a lot of applicants who have applied especially at the Chicken Alacart area along Guillermo Street but the market management can no longer accommodate them.

However, because of the goodness of the heart of the mayor for market vendors, they have decided to give them an area at Carmen Market. “Apan tungod sa kaayo sa atong mayor, kining 3RD batch ipahiluna nalang nato sa Carmen Market,” Salcedo explained.

Salcedo also clarified that his function is only focused on ambulant vendors outside of the Cogon Market and in all other markets in the City.

“Let us make it very clear that my function as co-chair of the Night market management committee is only on ambulant vendors outside of the Cogon Market,” Salcedo claimed.

“Ang nakalatid gyud sa atong executive order nga nadawat ang atong function dha ra gyud sa mga ambulant vendors gawas sa merkado.”

Salcedo said Mayor Klarex directed him to understand the plight of the vendors and as much as possible give them spaces if there are free spaces where they can display their goods, and as long as the motorists would not be affected.

“Grabe ka boutan ug manggi-luy on ang atong mayor busa ato gyud nga pangitaan ug paagi nga ma-plastar ang mga ambulant vendors, Maynalang mokita sa sa ginagmay nga pamaagi pinaagi sa pagpamaligya.

Salcedo said the ambulant vendors were very thankful to Mayor Klarex Uy because they are earning enough in the streets. “Nalipay kaayo intawon ang atong ambulant vendors kay gitagaan sila ug chance ni Mayor Klarex,” Salcedo said.
