THE Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras Memorial Foundation, Inc. (DRERMFI) introduced its mission through its first promotional video during today’s World Teachers’ Day celebration at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Claveria.

The video presentation and press briefing introduced the Foundation’s commitment to carrying forward the legacy of Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras, USTP’s first president and also former president of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).

The foundation’s formal launching is planned for December 2, 2026, in commemoration of Dr. Rotoras’s death anniversary. The venue and program will be announced separately.

DRERMFI envisions a globally respected philanthropic foundation advancing science, technology, innovation, and transformative education to create resilient communities and improve lives.

Its mission is to mobilize resources, forge strategic partnerships, and support programs in education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development. Guided by excellence, integrity, servant leadership, and nationbuilding, the Foundation seeks to empower students, faculty, researchers, innovators, and communities toward sustainable and inclusive progress.

Introducing the Foundation during World Teachers’ Day highlights the role of educators in sustaining Dr. Rotoras’s legacy and opening opportunities for future generations.

The Foundation is developing initiatives under the proposed DRER Legacy Programs framework, covering faculty scholars, student leaders, and professional staff fellows. Other initiatives under development include student meal support and partnerships to improve market access for farmers and fisherfolk. Program guidelines and implementation schedules will be announced as they are finalized and approved.

Led by Engr. Zarah Lynn A. Rotoras, Board Chairperson and President, DRERMFI invites individuals and organizations to participate through donations, volunteer service, professional expertise, and strategic partnerships.

Through this public introduction, the Foundation seeks to turn remembrance into opportunities for the people and communities Dr. Rotoras devoted his work to serving.

The dream continues.
