CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro, in cooperation with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro City and the Education Division, recently concluded the 22nd Rotary Youth Week, a annual program designed to give student-leaders a taste of real government service.
The Rotary Youth Exposure Program saw secondary student leaders from public and private schools stepping into roles as youth city officials for a week at City Hall, immersing themselves in actual government operations.
During the program, the youth officials underwent orientation and training on governance, parliamentary procedures, drafting ordinances/resolutions, and city administrative functions, equipping them with the necessary skills to become effective leaders.
The students were assigned to different city departments, where they got a firsthand look at how the city is run, attending real city council sessions and gaining valuable experience.
The program aimed to nurture leadership, civic awareness, responsibility, and public service value among the younger generations, and it was clear that the participants were enthusiastic about the opportunity.
The culmination event was graced by Cagayan de Oro City Councilor and Rotary International District 3870 past governor Gigi Go, and Current Governor Marlowe Selecious, who emphasized the importance of leadership and community service.
Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro President Leony Quicoy expressed his pride in the participants, saying that the program was a success thanks to the support of the city government and the Education Division.
The event was a testament to the club’s long-standing commitment to community service and leadership development, and it was clear that the participants had gained valuable experience and insights.
