SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur—A well-known radio program host and station manager of Radyo Gugma Erwin “Boy Pana” Segovia was shot dead Monday morning while driving his motorcycle in Barangay Mangagoy in Bislig City.
The Bislig City police said they are still investigating the motive of the killing at presstime when called by Mindanao Daily News via mobile phone.
Segovia, who has been hosting “Diretsahan ni Boy Pana Segovia”, a morning weekdays public affairs program aired over 95.8 DXCB FM was riding his motorbike after his program when shot in head by still unknown assailants.
Former Cantilan mayor Carla Lopez who ran and lost in the congressional race to former governor Alexander “Ayec” Pimentel in Surigao del Sur’s second district has immediately offered in her social media post a P1 million reward to those who will give information the arrest of the killers.
Segovia served as block time host to boost the candidacy of Pichay during the campaign period in the May 12, 2025 elections.
She also challenged incumbent provincial officials Ayec Pimentel, 1st District Rep. Romeo Momo and Gov. Johnny Pimentel to prove their commitment to justice and ensure the swift capture of Segovia’s killer.
“Your action or inaction will be your performance and legacy as the incumbent officials of the province,” Pichat pointed out in her post.
She also called on the Diocese of Tandag to join her calls to bring justice to all those who were killed in the name of politics.
Segovia, known for his hard-hitting commentaries, was just talking patronal fiesta of Mangagoy and had never mentioned politics during his Monday morning’s program before he was killed.
