Provincial Health Office Recognized by GPMU

By Gerry Lee Gorit

MISAMIS ORIENTAL- In a remarkable ceremony, Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia bestowed honors upon the Provincial Health Office for receiving multiple awards from the Department of Health (DOH).

The awards are a testament to the Provincial Health Office’s commitment to public health. They have been recognized as the top-ranking implementers of the Universal Health Care Local Health Systems Maturity Levels and secured the second rank in the Family Planning Program, achieving an impressive 86%, far surpassing the 65% benchmark.

PHO’s remarkable work in implementing Measles-Rubella and Bivalent Oral Polio Supplemental Immunization Activities, along with their active involvement in the Regional Infant & Young Child Feeding Task Force, has earned them well-deserved acclaim.

The office also excelled in the execution of the COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccination, New Born Screening Program, and played a significant role in the recently concluded Health Summit 2023.

Furthermore, special recognition was given to PHO Technical Division Head, Dr. Teodoro Yu Jr., for his invaluable assistance to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on September 15 of this year.

These accomplishments align perfectly with the Governor’s Paglaum Development Agenda, symbolized by the letter “U” for Unified Efforts in Health and Social Services Delivery. It is evident that the Provincial Health Office remains unwavering in its commitment to the well-being of the people, particularly when it concerns health.
