Police in armed robbery ordered disarmed, case filed

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Brig. Gen. Rolindo Soguilon, regional police director for Northern Mindanao, ordered a police officer disarmed after implicated in an armed robbery in Bukidnon on Wednesday.
The police officer with a rank of Corporal was collared in less than 12-hour after he reportedly robbed a 24/7 convenient store in Damilag, a village in Manolo Fortich, a town in the borders of Bukidnon province and Cagayan de Oro City.
Soguilon on Thursday ordered the police disarmed and the filing of administrative and criminal charges with provincial prosecution office in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Police Maj Joan Navarro, spokesperson of the regional police command based in Cagayan de Oro City, on Thursday said that the store cashier reportedl that the suspect carted away P12,000 before fleeing to Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
According to Navarro, the cashier alleged that the suspect robbed the store at gunpoint using his issued service firearm. “The cashier identified the police officer because he (police) was a frequent customer,” Navarro said.
Navarro said that the suspect assigned at the Malaybalay Police Station was arrested in his residence in a village in Malaybalay City less than 12 hours after he robbed the store Wednesday morning.
When asked how come he did the robbery, the susoect simply responded: “I want to see the close circuit telivision camera (cctv),” Navarro said.
In a statement, Soguilon said that the law enforcer’s behavior is unacceptable and the police command will make sure that he will be held accountable for his action.
