PDEA-BARMM seizes P6.8M worth of Shabu in Lanao Sur

MARAWI CITY (PIA) — In a successful buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), officers seized P6.8 million worth of Shabu and apprehended four suspects.

Law enforcement agents pulled off in Purok 5, Barangay Manila Group, Wao municipality on April 12, 2024.

During the operation, officers recovered approximately 1,000 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as Shabu.

Inside a vacuum-sealed transparent plastic bag, the contraband was concealed in an open black aluminum foil bag with Chinese characters.

In addition to the drugs, authorities seized buy-bust money, a mobile phone, three leatherette wallets containing assorted identification cards, assorted paper bills amounting to P450, and a white Toyota Revo.

The four suspects are currently held in custody at the PDEA-BARMM jail facility awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The successful operation was a result of collaborative efforts among various law enforcement agencies, including the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office, Wao Municipal Police Station, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Regional Highway Patrol Unit.

The 55th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army and the Local Government Unit of Wao provided crucial support, demonstrating the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in combating the illegal drug trade. (PDEA-BARMM/PIA Lanao del Sur)
