Malacañang has acknowledged the recent statement by Vice President Sara Duterte, in which she expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for playing a role in mending her relationship with her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Press Officer Claire Castro responded to the Vice President’s remarks, noting that the Palace welcomes positive developments in the personal relationships of public officials, especially when they contribute to unity and cooperation.
“The President has always been committed to fostering a culture of respect and collaboration, both in governance and personal relations,” Castro stated. “We appreciate any efforts that promote harmony, as these ultimately benefit the Filipino people.”
President Marcos himself briefly commented on the matter, saying, “Glad I could help.” While he did not elaborate, his statement suggests a willingness to bridge gaps between political figures for the sake of unity.
While Claire Castro did not provide further details, the statement implies that the Marcos administration remains focused on maintaining political stability and national unity amid past political tensions.
The Duterte family has been at the center of speculation regarding internal differences, particularly after the former president’s strong criticisms of the Marcos administration. However, Vice President Sara’s statement hints at possible reconciliation within their ranks.
As the nation watches the evolving political landscape, the call for cooperation among leaders remains a crucial factor in ensuring progress and stability.
