We don’t even have the death penalty in the Philippines, yet you’re killing people without due process. That’s unacceptable,” Castro stated during a press briefing on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Castro stressed that the rule of law must be upheld, and that the government should not resort to extrajudicial killings to address the country’s drug problem. Instead, the justice system should be improved, and suspects should be given a fair trial.
