CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully confiscated PhP1.8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during a checkpoint operation at the Regional Border Control Point in Purok 1, Brgy. Omonay, Damulog, Bukidnon on April 17, 2025.
The operation was conducted by personnel of the 1003rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), together with personnel from Damulog Municipal Police Station, Bukidnon Police Provincial Office, and the Delta Company of the 89th Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
During the operation, a red Bonggo vehicle ignored the checkpoint and rammed a barricade, prompting an immediate pursuit. The vehicle was later found abandoned about a kilometer away, with the unidentified driver having fled in an unknown direction.
Upon plain view inspection of the abandoned truck, operatives discovered several master cases of suspected smuggled cigarettes without the required health warning labels. A total of forty-five (45) master cases of white Fort menthol cigarettes were confiscated, with an estimated market value of Php 1,800,000.00, based on the valuation of the Bureau of Customs.
The confiscated items, including the red Bonggo Mazda truck, were brought to Damulog MPS, and will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs Region 10 for proper disposition.
PBGEN JAYSEN C DE GUZMAN, Regional Director, PRO10, commended the operating units for a job well done.
“I commend the operating units for their vigilance and teamwork. Smuggling activities will not be tolerated under my watch, and we will intensify our efforts—especially at all control border points across Northern Mindanao—to ensure that no illegal activities pass through our area of responsibility,” he said.
