The Provincial Capitol Press Club held a successful election of officers on September 20, 2025, at the Unity Hall. The event was attended by media practitioners from various print and broadcast outlets in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental. The newly elected officers are expected to strengthen the partnership between the media and the local government.
The following officers were elected: Cheleste Simene-Jomaya of RPN as President, Jhubert Pamisa of Tiger FM as Vice-President, Joana Mae Ricote of DXCC as Secretary, Angie Alsado of MAGNUM as Treasurer, and Cocoy Medina of Radyo Pilipinas as Auditor. The advisers include Froilan Gallardo, COPC President; Shaun Alejandrae Uy of PIA; Menzie Montes, 4th ID Press Club President; and Michael Bustamante, PNP Press Club President.
The election aims to foster a stronger partnership between the media and the local government, promoting clear communication and transparency. Governor Juliette Uy, through her Special Assistant, Mr. Celso Abocejo, expressed her support for the association, emphasizing its crucial role in disseminating accurate information and promoting government programs and projects.
The Provincial Press Club is expected to play a vital role in providing accurate and timely information to the public, promoting transparency and accountability in governance. The association will work closely with the local government to ensure that the public is informed about the various initiatives and programs implemented in the province.
With the new set of officers, the Provincial Press Club is poised to become more active and effective in its role as a source of information and partner of the government in promoting the welfare of Misamis Oriental. The association’s efforts will contribute to a more informed and engaged citizenry, ultimately leading to a more progressive and developed province.
