MISAMIS Oriental has the top industry-driven economy in Northern Mindanao, according to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) based on the results of the 2025 Provincial Product Accounts.
The province’s economy grew by 5.8 percent in 2025 with an estimated gross domestic product (GDP) of ₱187.47 billion for the same year.
This was one of the highlights of the PPA dissemination forum held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The gathering focused on presenting the 2025 economic performance of Misamis Oriental province and Cagayan de Oro City.
Meanwhile, CDO recorded the fastest economic growth in Northern Mindanao with an increase of 7.4 percent.
In line with the 37th National Statistics Month this October, PSA Region 10 director Janith C. Aves urged all statistics and data source holders, whom the agency considers partners in ensuring accurate and timely information to make use of the latest results.
These findings are particularly important for 2026 and the years ahead as they can serve as a guide for continuously improving the economy and providing people with greater prosperity and sustainable opportunities.
PSA Misamis Oriental chief statistical specialist Maria Liza M. Bigornia also thanked everyone who contributed to achieving the province’s current standing.
She likewise reminded stakeholders of the importance of sustaining these gains to ensure continued progress throughout the region.
Misamis Oriental provincial planning and development coordinator Archimedes C. Lazaro and Cagayan de Oro City Planning and Development Officer IV Simeon Josapat J. Licayan each delivered a presentation highlighting the economic performance of the province and the city over the past year.
According to Lazaro, the provincial government of Misamis Oriental remains committed to building a more competitive, diversified, inclusive and sustainable province.
Despite challenges, particularly the need to reduce poverty, the provincial government will continue striving to create a resilient and secure province that provides opportunities for everyone.
PSA also recognized the Top 5 best local government units (LGUs) for their efficient and timely submission of all required data and their active engagement with the agency.
The awardees were Gingoog City, Claveria, Salay, Magsaysay, and Villanueva.
Overall, the event underscored the importance of strong collaboration among all stakeholders, LGUs, government agencies and other participating groups.
This shared commitment also reflects the vision under the leadership of Governor Juliette Uy, with all plans, projects, and programs aligned with the province’s BANGON strategic direction. PIO
