Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia leads monday November 11, 2024 the signing of the memorandum of agreement between San Miguel Global Power Batery Energy Storage System Power, Inc. and the province of Misamis Oriental for the establishment and administraton of trust accounts in accordance wth DOE DC2018-08-0021on the accrued financial benefits from the commercial operations of a battery energy storage system facility.
The San Miguel Global Power will operate a battery energy storage system plant within Tagoloan and Jasaan particularly in barangays Mohon and Aplaya respectively which will operate this year. This facility serves as electricity power provider to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
The host provincial LGU is entitled to a benefit indicated in the Energy Regulation No. 1-94, a program of Department of Energy (DOE) intended to recompense for the contribution made by the communities hosting energy generating facility or energy resources.
Moreover, the execution of this MOA will enable the host beneficiary, the provincial local government unit to enjoy benefits of the DOE program.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan also passed a resolution authorizing Unabia to enter a MOA. Since the battery energy storage in Jasaan is now operational and generating electricity, the corresponding shares of the host beneficiary like LGUs are now available.
