The provincial government of Misamis Oriental headed by the new Governor Juliette Uy has taken a significant step towards transparency by presenting its current financial status during a flag-raising ceremony. Provincial Treasurer Ronald Jame Violon and Provincial Accountant Philip Louie Dagoc reported on the province’s financial condition, revealing the following key points:

Financial Highlights:

Outstanding debt: The province has an outstanding balance of PHP 934,905,056.47 inherited from the previous administration.

Unliquidated cash balances: There are unliquidated cash balances amounting to PHP 65 million.

Current payables: The current payables left by the previous administration amount to PHP 510,949,659.08, covering the General Fund, School Fund, and Trust Fund.

Legacy payables: The province also has a balance of PHP 423,955,397.39 in payables dating back to 2021.

Transparency Initiative:

The provincial government has initiated a policy of presenting financial reports during flag-raising ceremonies every Monday. This move aims to keep the public informed about the province’s financial situation and ensure transparency in governance.
