Misamis Occidental Governor ambushed; survives slay try again

BY JOEL C. ESCOL, Managing Editor

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL – Political supporters of Governor Henry Sevilla Oaminal were all shocked when they heard that unidentified gunmen ambushed the governor’s convoy while traversing a road in Clarin town, yesterday, around 11pm, report said.

The governor was heading to Ozamiz City with a convoy vehicle for his own security when the incident took place.

Police investigations disclosed that when a convoy reached an establishment identified as a “Suman Center,” the convoy was peppered with bullets causing the vehicle to be disabled and stopped running, while the second vehicle which was also hit by bullets managed to escape from the crime scene and kept the governor safe until reaching his residence.

The police are now conducting massive investigations and pursuit operations to track the whereabouts of the culprits in the ambush.

Shortly after the reported ambush, the Governor came out on social media and announced that none of his companions were hurt and they all went home safe. The governor expressed his gratitude to the Lord for helping them escape from the dangers of the ambush.

Meanwhile, police authorities are urging the people who may have knowledge of the failed ambush to report to their office. The police said any information will be kept with confidentiality

On December 22, 2021, Governor Oaminal was also ambushed but cheated death.

The governor’s political group was having a Christmas party when a sniper from nowhere fired his gun pointing to the governor. Luckily, the governor was not hit, but instead the bullet hit his running mate Michael Gutierrez, who was behind the governor.

The governor was slightly wounded due to the splinters but his vice-gubernatorial mate died at the hospital a few days later.  ###
