MANILA, 26 March – Expressing full support to the newly-minted DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon as key partner in advancing various programs and initiatives of the transport sector, The Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators ng Pilipinas (LTOP) Foundation Inc reiterates its commitment to leapfrog programs primarily focused on the economic uplift of transport operators nationwide.
LTOP Foundation Inc. National Chairman Orlando Marquez announced several key programs and projects that will benefit the country’s transport workers.
These initiatives include:
-Accident Drivers’ Security Life Insurance Coverage in partnership with Fortune Life Insurance Company Inc.,
duly endorsed by the Insurance Commission with the following benefits:
Security Life Coverage (P100,000.00),
Accident Assistance (P100,000.00),
Unprovoked Assault Coverage (P100,000.00),
Total Disability Benefit (P100,000.00),
Partial Disability Benefit (P50,000.00),
Burial Assistance (P50,000.00)
-Drivers’ Village (PBBM Housing Project) This is a housing initiative for qualified operator-drivers under the LTOP Foundation Inc., in collaboration with government agencies such as Pag-IBIG and the National Housing Authority (NHA)/Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
-Scholarship Program. This is the Foundation’s educational support program for operator-drivers and their dependents, covering all courses under the TESDA Tsuper Iskolar program across the country.
-Retirement Program. This is a partnership program with the Social Security System (SSS) to provide pension benefits for drivers reaching the age of 65.
-Rehabilitation of Iconic Traditional Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs). This is a modernization initiative ensuring PUJs comply with the Philippine National Standards (PNS) and Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) regulations. The project will undergo inspection under the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (MVIC) of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) while supporting local jeepney manufacturers.
-Proposed Traffic Education Curriculum.
In line with its education advocacy, LTOP Foundation Inc. is pushing for the inclusion of traffic rules and regulations in the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum from Grade 3 to Grade 12 (Senior High School). The goal is to elevate the standards of Filipino drivers to an international level while also educating passengers and pedestrians on traffic laws to reduce violations and accidents.
