Kapatagan Housing Project More Than 50 Percent Completion, says Engr Maayug

LANAO DEL SUR – A top official of the Lanao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office said yesterday that the housing project is almost 60 percent completed.

The said housing project for internally-displaced persons (IDPs) in conflict affected areas in Lanao del Sur and other neighboring provinces will be transferred soon to the approved beneficiaries.

told this paper in an exclusive interview that the housing project of the Office of Ahod Ibrahim under the so-called Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan (Kapyanan).

Asst District Engr Camar Maayug, Lanao del Sur District Engineering Office said a total of 50 housing units will be distributed in every municipality based on the housing program.

“Kami po ay natutuwa na nagkaroon na ng ganitong project ang BARMM government dahil marami naman talaga ang gustong magkakaroon ng totoong bahay na talagang pagma-mayari nila,” the assistant district engineer said.

ABOUT KAPYANAN

The construction of 50 core shelters under the Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan (Kapyanan) initiative, dedicated to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and impoverished families in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, is now approaching completion.

Abdullah Cusain, the project manager for Kapyanan, reported that the core shelter projects are currently at 70% completion. This assessment followed his inspection on Tuesday, August 3, at the project site in Bo-ot village, Wao, Lanao del Sur.

Kapyanan is a special program initiated by Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Its primary objective is to enhance the living conditions of the most economically disadvantaged individuals within the BARMM.

Cusain, who also serves as Barmm’s Assistant Senior Minister, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I would say that more than 70 percent of the physical structure of the houses is completed. I made an effort to visit the area because I wanted to personally assess the actual accomplishment or the percentage of implementation in this area.”

Each of the 50-unit shelters, equipped with solar power and water components, incurs a cost of over P20.3 million, with each unit amounting to P406,254.64, as indicated by Cusain.

These core shelters constitute part of the 1,000 housing units planned for Lanao del Sur under the Office of the Chief Minister’s 2019 budget appropriations. Additionally, 900 units were allocated for the fiscal year 2020, and another 1,000 units for 2021 for Lanao del Sur.

During his visit to the project site, Cusain distributed food packs and water containers. He also highlighted the forthcoming provision of livelihood assistance and water sanitation initiatives in the same area.
