Politics has been marred by fake news and extremism, significantly impacting the nation’s democratic processes. A notable instance is the prosecution of Chief Justice Renato Corona, which exemplifies how political rivalries can be exacerbated by misinformation and selective investigations. As allegations surfaced regarding Vice President confidential fund of 150 million pesos, it raised questions about the integrity of political motives when larger budgets for others went unexamined.

The scrutiny faced by Chief Justice Corona highlights a troubling pattern in Philippine politics: the use of targeted investigations as a tool for eliminating rivals. While many officials manage substantial funds without similar inquiries, the focus on VP Sara Duterte suggests a politically motivated agenda rather than a genuine pursuit of accountability. This disparity indicates that accusations can often serve as weapons in power struggles rather than legitimate efforts to uphold justice. And again with same culprit has done it again,as she manipultes another tactic to eleminate a front runner in the 2028 Presidential Elections,Senator Risa Hontiveros is planning a take 2 aganinst Vice President Sara Duterte.

Historically ,extreme actions fueled by political rivalry have led to tragic outcomes, as seen in the killings of figures like Andres Bonifacio and General Antonio Luna. These events illustrate how deeply entrenched corruption and partisan conflicts can result in violence and betrayal among leaders who should ideally unite for public welfare. Such historical precedents demonstrate that as long as corruption persists, so will these destructive practices within Philippine politics.

Currently, with the Department of Justice withdrawing support from prosecuting cases due to insufficient evidence, questions arise about the future integrity of legal proceedings in the country. The International Criminal Court’s involvement with former President Duterte’s case reflects ongoing international concern over domestic governance issues. The financial resources expended on these legal pursuits raise further doubts about whether justice will be served or if this is merely another chapter in a cycle of political maneuvering.

As demonstrated by both historical and contemporary examples, fake news and extremism remain pervasive challenges within Philippine politics. The case against Chief Justice Corona serves not only as an illustration but also as a warning that unchecked corruption leads to harmful practices detrimental to democracy and public trust. For meaningful change to occur—for the sake of Filipinos—it is imperative that these patterns are addressed head-on,cut throat anyone who disregard accountabilty.
