PAGADIAN CITY – A 40 years old JESREEL HIMANG, Provincial Information Officer of Zamboanga del Sur was shot dead by his own escort/driver at about 11:50 in the evening at Ambulon Beach Resort, Vincenzo Sagun of this province recently.
Police investigation revealed, the group of Himang were having a drinking spree inside the function hall of the beach resort at Purok Puting Balas, Brgy. Ambulon, of the said municipality.
Himang and his escort at the same time his driver, Reymond Lopecillo 29 years old of Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur, had a heated argument which escalated into a shooting. Himang sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his body and was immediately rushed to Margosatubig Regional Hospital, a nearby municipality of Vincenzo Sagun, for treatment but declared dead on arrival by attending physician.
It was learned a certain Celgwen Arellano, 24 years old, a student and a resident of Tigbao was hit by a stray bullet and is currently undergoing treatment.
The suspect was arrested on-site by responding personnel of Vincenzo Sagun Municipal Police Station, who was recovered also in his possession, a caliber-45 pistol used in the incident. Accordingly, the suspect claimed it was self-defense. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation on the case. Lopecillo is now facing a case of murder and frustrated murder in court.
