Guinsiliban vice mayor nabbed in drug bust

A joint anti-drug operation conducted by the PDEA-10 Camiguin Provincial Office, in coordination with the PNP Camiguin Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Mambajao Municipal Police Station (MPS), Guinsiliban MPS, and the Provincial Mobile Force Platoon, led to the successful implementation of a search warrant on March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:50 PM in Purok 3, Barangay North Poblacion, Guinsiliban, Camiguin Province.

The operation resulted in the arrest of an incumbent Vice-Mayor, and the confiscation
of five (5) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated standard value of Php 102,000.00.

Also recovered during the operation were a 9mm pistol with one magazine, 22 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, two cellular phones, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

PDEA Regional Director Alex M. Tablate identified the elected official as alias “Tata,” a 66-year-old male and resident of Camiguin.

The suspect will face charges for violations of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reiterates its call for public support in the fight against illegal drugs.
