Gov. Unabia Engages with Local Communities with Kapihan sa Lapyahan

Misamis Oriental – The latest Kapihan sa Lapyahan, held at Purok 2, Lower Jasaan, Cabulig River, served as a platform for Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia to address the concerns of the local fisherfolk and farming communities in the Municipality of Jasaan.

During the gathering, the fisherfolk community highlighted the pressing need for Payaw equipment. In response, Gov. Unabia pledged assistance by providing ropes within the allocated budget. Additionally, farmers expressed concerns about the water filtering system, prompting Gov. Unabia to pledge a check-up on their water pump to enhance its efficiency.

In a bid to promote education, Gov. Unabia encouraged parents with college-aged children to apply for the Iskolar ko ng Bayan (IKNB) program, ensuring access to educational opportunities. Moreover, commitments were made to provide first aid kits to senior citizens and clutches to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the community, supporting their health and mobility needs.

Responding to requests for assistance in developing Misortel, Gov. Unabia announced plans to dispatch an engineer to assess the building’s requirements for necessary improvements, ensuring its optimal utilization. Additionally, collaborative efforts with the barangay captain were initiated to facilitate the procurement and management of wholesale goods for the vendor’s association.

In another development, PMU-LEAP announced its readiness to accommodate individuals with at least two years of business experience, simplifying the application process to include only the submission of a birth certificate from PSA and valid IDs for validation purposes.

This engagement underscores Governor Unabia’s commitment to addressing the needs of local communities, specifically the fisherfolks and farmers community through his Paglaum Development Agenda, fostering inclusive development across the province. (by Gerry Lee Gorit)
