CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A new chapter in Northern Mindanao’s automotive landscape unfolded as Geely officially opened its newest dealership along Kauswagan National Highway on March 19, 2026, marking a significant step in the brand’s continued expansion in the Philippines.

The grand opening of Geely Cagayan de Oro, operated by Otto-Motto Mobility Inc. under the Rolida Group of Companies, brought together executives, banking partners, industry stakeholders, and local guests in a celebration that highlighted both growth and ambition.

In his welcome remarks, General Sales Manager Ryu Rolida underscored the importance of collaboration in driving the automotive industry forward. He acknowledged the presence of partner banks and insurance providers, describing them as “the backbone of the auto industry.” Rolida emphasized that beyond vehicle sales, the dealership aims to elevate customer experience from the moment clients step into the showroom to the time they drive their vehicles home.

“Our goal is not just to sell cars, but to ensure a seamless and memorable journey for every customer,” he said.

The event also highlighted improvements in Geely’s operations, with vehicles now being imported directly from China an initiative expected to streamline supply chains and improve access to genuine parts.

During the product presentation, Geely Auto Philippines Dealer Development Director Chuck Guo shared the brand’s global milestones and future direction. He revealed that Geely sold nearly 4.1 million vehicles worldwide last year, positioning it among the top global automotive groups. He also noted the company’s rapid transition toward new energy vehicles, with 2.29 million units sold in 2025, representing a 56 percent penetration rate.

“Our transformation into new energy mobility is happening rapidly,” Guo said. “And we are excited to bring this innovation to the Philippine market.”

Guo added that Geely is set to introduce several new models in the country, including a premium plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle with advanced hybrid technology, a luxury battery electric hatchback designed for extended range, and a larger plug-in hybrid SUV offering refined performance and high safety standards. These upcoming releases are expected to strengthen the brand’s position in the increasingly competitive local automotive market.

Closing the evening, Rolida Group President Jefferson Rolida led a ceremonial toast, expressing gratitude to partners, employees, and family members who contributed to the dealership’s launch. Fresh from a business trip to China, he shared insights into Geely’s global standing, noting the strong performance of its electric vehicle lineup and its growing recognition as a leading Chinese automotive brand.

“This is officially the opening of Geely Cagayan de Oro,” he said. “There is so much to be thankful for, and even more to look forward to.”

The ceremony concluded with a collective toast, underscoring optimism for the brand’s future in the region.

The opening of Geely Cagayan de Oro reflects the company’s broader strategy of expanding its reach beyond major metropolitan areas and tapping into emerging markets across the Philippines. With a growing lineup of technologically advanced vehicles and strengthened industry partnerships, Geely is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s evolving mobility landscape. As the evening’s celebration suggested, the journey ahead is only beginning driven by innovation, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future of transportation. (JME/MDN)
