In a groundbreaking initiative to foster hope and create pathways to a brighter future, the University and Community Partnership (UCP) of Foundever® in Palawan partnered with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Puerto Princesa to deliver a transformative Digital Literacy Skills Training Program.
The collaboration with Language Academy at Foundever in Palawan is part of BJMP’s comprehensive rehabilitation program for its inmates. The one-day intensive training session covered essential digital knowledge, including basic computer operations, typing skills, and proficiency in digital tools, crucial skills for successful reintegration into today’s technology-driven workforce.
“Education and skills development are powerful tools for transformation,” said Freda Lou Caguin, Site Director for Foundever in Palawan. “By providing digital literacy training to individuals within the correctional system, we’re teaching more than just computer skills–we’re also offering hope, dignity, and real opportunities for a fresh start when they return to their communities.”

Through practical, hands-on learning experiences, participants gained exposure to digital technologies that are increasingly essential in modern employment across various industries.

The program aligns with national criminal justice reform efforts emphasizing rehabilitation over strict penalties alone.
