DOJ Asks Supreme Court to Deny Duterte Children’s Habeas Corpus Petitions

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a motion with the Supreme Court, urging it to reject the petitions for habeas corpus submitted by the children of former President Rodrigo Duterte. The petitions aim to secure Duterte’s release and return to the Philippines.

In its motion, the DOJ argued that the petitions lack merit and should be dismissed. The department’s stance is that the Supreme Court should not intervene in the matter, as Duterte’s situation does not warrant the issuance of a writ of habeas corpus.
