Talking or writing about corruption as a “social cancer” is irrelevant and nonsensical. Who dares listen or believe that corruption is a social cancer? I think those who abhor and criticize corruption, especially in the government, are nothing but pretentious naïve. For instance, in the Philippines, everybody talk about government corruption at all levels. Who said so?!
Well, one could read and hear it in social media platforms. Okay, that is the right of the people to criticize the government. However, who are these people who virulently criticize the people running the machinery of the government? Certainly, these people claim to be the enlightened activists. Not to be set aside are politicians pretending to clean.
Politicians? I remembered someone opined, “ang mga opportunistang politiko mao ang tinubdan ug sad an nga dili mawagtang ang korapsyon sa Pilipinas.” (The opportunist politicians are the source and the culprit that corruption continues in the Philippines.) Honestly, it makes me wonder trying to understand the statement between the lines. Somehow, I realized there is logic in the statement. Thus, it behooves in my mind how opportunistic politicians masterminded black propagandas to create instability. They called this “demolition job.”
Under this scenario, political opponents become target of intense criticism, particularly elected public officials. Consider this, during the anti-Marcos Sr time, the political opposition ( also hired drum beaters) succeeded in their sinister plot to overthrow the government.
What happened next? They were the same political opposition, who orchestrated to overthrow Marcos, succeeded in power. What have they done other than propagated corruption in our noses under pretext of transparency and accountability? Corruption during the time of Cory Aquino grew Into a social cancer. The infection spread to Pres. Ramos and the succeeding Presidents. Now, we talked of overthrowing the incumbent administration.
