The current state of Congress has led many to question its effectiveness and relevance. With rising discontent among people regarding the actions of lawmakers, some argue that we would be better off without Congress altogether. The reasons why a dysfunctional Congress may no longer serve the interests of the people and how their lavish lifestyles at taxpayer expense exacerbate this sentiment. This parliament should be dissolve, it does not aid it hurts the very core of legislation.

One major issue with Congress is its perceived disconnect from the everyday lives of Filipinos. Many lawmakers seem more focused on personal gain and political advantage than on addressing pressing issues facing their people. This lack of connection fosters frustration, as citizens feel that their needs are ignored while Congress indulges in extravagance funded by taxpayer pesos.

The financial burden imposed by Congress is another critical concern. Lawmakers often live opulently, enjoying benefits and salaries far beyond what average citizens can dream of. This disparity creates a sense of injustice, as taxpayers fund a lifestyle that seems detached from reality. The public’s growing resentment towards these elites raises disgust about whether their laws truly reflect the will or needs of the people.

Moreover, legislative gridlock has become commonplace in today’s Congress, resulting in minimal progress on significant issues like healthcare, education reform, and climate change. The inability to collaborate effectively betrayals public trust and raises doubts about the necessity of such a governing body. If lawmakers cannot fulfill their primary responsibilities due to partisan bickering, it begs the question: are they even needed?

With a Congressional body that appears increasingly out-of-touch and ineffective, might argue that we are better off without it altogether. The lavish lifestyles funded by taxpayer money only deepen dissatisfaction with governance. A reevaluation of congressional roles may be necessary for a genuine representation and accountability. As they lay on bed of roses while we lay on bed of thorns.
