Manila, Philippines – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Major General Nicolas Torre has shrugged off derogatory remarks made against him by Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

When asked about the incident, Torre remained unfazed, stating that he has encountered worse criticism throughout his career.

“Ayos lang ‘yon. I’ve seen worse. Kaya kumapal ang balat ko, sanay na ‘to sa mura, e,” Torre said in Filipino, which translates to, “It’s okay. I’ve seen worse. My skin has thickened; I’m used to being cursed at.”

While Torre did not elaborate on what prompted the remarks from the younger Duterte, his composed response suggests he is unbothered by the incident. The CIDG chief is no stranger to controversies and criticisms, given the high-profile nature of his position in law enforcement.

Kitty Duterte, the youngest daughter of the former president, has been known to be vocal on social media, occasionally making strong statements regarding national issues and political figures. However, she has yet to publicly comment further on the matter.

Despite the exchange, Torre remains focused on his duties within the CIDG, overseeing investigations into criminal activities nationwide. The CIDG has been at the forefront of law enforcement efforts in tackling organized crime, corruption, and other major offenses.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the incident will have any implications for Torre’s position or ongoing CIDG operations.
