CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Camiguin Water Company has completed major works on the Cuña Bypass Project, a critical water infrastructure upgrade designed to improve water reliability and distribution in several high-lying communities across the island.

The project is now undergoing final system integration and testing and is targeted for full operational launch in Q1 2026.

The Cuña Bypass was implemented to maximize the efficiency of the Cantaan–Cabuan pipeline system, addressing long-standing challenges related to water pressure and service consistency. By reinforcing the existing network, the project enhances water delivery to communities in Cabuan, Maac, and Benoni, where elevation has historically affected supply reliability.

“This project responds directly to operational constraints we have seen on the ground,” said Art Gatmaitan of Camiguin Water Company. “With the Cuña Bypass now in place, we are improving system balance and ensuring more consistent water delivery to higher-lying areas that have previously experienced supply interruptions.”

Once fully operational, the project is expected to improve water distribution to additional communities, including Sitio Lamok in Benoni, Mahinog, and Sitio Biong in Maac, Guinsiliban, further strengthening overall network resilience.

Gatmaitan noted that the Cuña Bypass reflects Camiguin Water Company’s continued focus on targeted infrastructure improvements with direct impact on service quality. “Our priority is to deliver practical solutions that improve reliability for our customers. This project is an important step toward building a more resilient water system for Camiguin,” he said.

Camiguin Water Company will provide updates as the project moves toward full operational deployment in early 2026.
