The Provincial Government of Biliran has committed Php 6,285,300 to support its athletes participating in the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet, set to take place in Baybay City from March 1 to 7. This substantial funding demonstrates the province’s strong commitment to sports development and nurturing young talent across the region.
Governor Rogelio Espina reaffirmed the province’s dedication to youth and sports programs, emphasizing that investing in the growth of athletes is an investment in Biliran’s future. “Our young athletes are ambassadors of the province,” Governor Espina said. “By providing full support, from training to competition, we are giving them the opportunity to focus on excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship. We believe in their potential and we are proud of them.”
The financial package includes Php 2,200,000 from the Special Education Fund (SEF) and Php 4,085,300 from the Provincial General Fund, ensuring comprehensive coverage for the province’s official delegation. A total of 706 delegates, composed of student-athletes, coaches, and support personnel, will benefit from the provincial support.

The funding will cover meals from the start of concentration training until the conclusion of the EVRAA Meet, along with official uniforms, transportation, and other logistical requirements necessary for the athletes to compete effectively. By providing these resources, the provincial government ensures that athletes can focus entirely on performance and preparation without distractions.
The EVRAA Meet is one of Eastern Visayas’ most prestigious regional sporting events, bringing together the top student-athletes from various school divisions. It serves as both a proving ground for emerging talents and a stepping stone for athletes aspiring to compete at higher levels.
Provincial officials emphasized that this support reflects Biliran’s continuing efforts to foster holistic youth development, recognizing sports as a powerful tool in shaping leadership, teamwork, and character.
