“…Cause every night I lie in bed/
The brightest colors fill my head/
A million dreams are keeping me awake/
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see…” excerpts from the A Million Dreams
A vision of the one I see, this is what the Alliance of Certified Enforcers (ACE) Party-List Founder and Ist Nominee Erwin B. Culanag is taking on seriously on his dream to make things happen about bringing the voice of the security sector in the 20th Congress.
Foremost of that vision is turning the country’s Barangay Tanod Brigades into a formidable force in the maintenance of peace and order in the communities nationwide.
The ACE Party-List, recognizing the key role of Barangay Tanods will work for their economic uplift, emphasizing their functions in upholding peace and order in communities where formal police presence may be lacking.
“These dedicated civilian volunteers show their unwavering commitment in the prevention of crimes through teamwork and dedicated adherence to their duties”, Culanag, a trained international law enforcement officer said.
He said pursuant to such duty, Barangay Tanods needs a strong and sustainable support system in conducting rondas or nightly patrols, necessarily exposing their lives and limbs to danger in the hands of criminal elements and other wayward members of society.
ACE Party-List has recognized the exceptional barangay tanods’ duties and responsibilities, supporting our barangay officials in crime prevention and promoting public safety through the conduct of “Ronda”patrols, reporting to the offices concerned of any disruptions or unfair events, tracking the presence and actions of criminals and illegal elements.
“Keeping the entire barangay clean and safe is just a few of their tasks. Barangay Tanods are essentially the peacekeeping arm of the Barangay. For those subdivisions, residential areas and other communities that cannot afford several uniformed security guards, these Tanods serve as the main security force of our communities, Culanag explained.
ACE Party List has well noted the Barangay Tanods’ role and the obstacles they encounter,
Including women tanods most vital in putting in place support systems into the dynamics of barangay tanod groups, Culanag said.
Examining the contributions and challenges faced by tanods will not only deepen our understanding of their roles but also enhance the barangay tanods’ overall success in preserving peace and order, he said.
By considering their roles , we need to advocate approaches, in the realm of barangay security so that we can further bolster their capabilities as peace and order guardians of our communities, Culanag added.
